The highly unusual Cardboard Boat Race World Championship sees contestants battling it out on Heber Springs Greers Ferry Lake in cardboard boats. Everyone is invited to partake, as long as the boat consists of nothing else but cardboard.
Year after year, many teams spend the winter months designing their boats in hope of taking home the Pride of the Fleet award. For captains whose boat doesn't make it to the finishing line, there is always the notorious Titanic Award.
Besides watching the race, you can stuff yourself in the World Championship Watermelon Eating Contest, take part in King of the Beach Volleyball or watch the kids dig for treasure or build sandcastles in the sandsculpting contest. The event traditionally ends with a Cardboard Boat Demolition Derby and a fireworks display.
