Fun-filled Charleston South Carolina

Tuesday September 30

If you’ve seen the film “Gone with the Wind” you will know that before the American Civil War Charleston was the place where the rich flocked from the southern states to take advantage of the entertainment and social events there. Charleston was burned, but it retains the fun and excitement, and you will not want to leave.

If you go to Charleston the first thing to do is go to one of the four visitor’s centers and get your souvenir passport. It will be a souvenir and you can get stamps when you visit the attractions which participate in the Charleston Explorer scheme. You have your passport stamped and collect points which are converted into prizes. The more attractions you visit the more prizes you will get. You can enjoy yourself and win prizes too-that can’t be bad, can it?

You can go kayaking or paddleboarding on an eco-tour with Charleston Outdoor Adventures and get close to Loggerhead Sea Turtles and the Atlantic Bottle-nosed dolphin, and perhaps get an opportunity to swim with the dolphins; this is an awesome experience which you will never forget.

Charleston is home to the Carolina Ice Palace, where you can go ice skating, or learn how to skate if you don’t know how yet. This is a great way to escape the heat of a sweltering summer’s day.

At Charles Towne Landing you can jump aboard the SS Adventure which is a reproduction of a 17th century merchant ship and have a unique experience while you are on board, that is really exciting.

You can visit ancient Indian villages, Backwater swamps, shrimping villages and a whole host of other interesting attractions in a kayak or canoe with Native Adventures Kayak and Canoe Tours and Rentals, and of course there are the Water Parks close by for you to explore as another fun thing to do in Charleston.

You can do all of these fun things and more - even win some prizes, too.
